Our Mission
At Rivers & Roots, our mission is to create a greener and more sustainable future for Nepal. We recognize the pressing need to address waste management challenges and their impact on the environment. By partnering with restaurants, we strive to divert recyclable materials away from landfills, promote recycling practices, and reduce harmful methane emissions and leachate production.
Recycling for a Cleaner Tomorrow
One of the key aspects of our Restaurant Recycling Program is the collection of recyclable materials from our partner eateries. Materials like paper, plastic, and aluminum are carefully collected and sent to recycling facilities in India. By doing so, we contribute to reducing the burden on local landfills and the environmental footprint associated with waste disposal.
Composting for a Healthier Environment
In addition to recycling, we take an innovative approach to deal with organic waste. Yum Yum Cafe and Tin Tin Momos provide us with their organic waste, which we efficiently process into nutrient-rich compost. This compost is then used to enrich soil in community gardens and urban green spaces. By diverting organic waste from landfills, we not only reduce methane emissions but also promote healthier soil and sustainable agriculture.
